About the Documentary
WE WANT THE FUNK! is a syncopated voyage through the history of funk music, spanning from African, soul, and early jazz roots, to its rise into the public consciousness. Featuring James Brown's dynamism, the extraterrestrial funk of George Clinton's Parliament Funkadelic, transformed girl group Labelle, and Fela Kuti's Afrobeat, the story also traces funk's influences on both new wave and hip-hop.
DJ RC The Trackaholiq
Ryan “RC” Croone aka RC The Trackaholiq. Born November 6th, 1973 is an American music producer and DJ based in Seattle, WA. He is an instrumental figure in the movement and growth of the Northwest music scene. RC is a highly respected DJ who has rocked crowds up and down the West Coast with his unique blends and song selections. He is considered one of the pioneers of Seattle's Hip Hop scene.
